Cotati Smart Station to Wilson/Marshall/Tomales - Route Map
This ride will start/end at the Cotati Smart Train Station It will be led by the illustrious Steve Pollock, with assistance by Earl, and is co-listed on the Santa Rosa Cycling Club calendar as a C/D paced ride. It will be a largely no-drop ride due to regroups but the pace will generally be quite brisk. This group averages about 17 mph on this route.
There is some parking at the train station, on the streets, and there is a park and ride here. which we have used for other rides.
Take the bike path south to E. Railroad Ave. to Stony Point where we will take a hard left and the right onto Jewett. Note the turn at Stony Point can have a lot of traffic, so be careful with this turn. Jewett to Pepper Rd, Pepper to Bodega Ave before quick turn onto the recently paved Spring Hill Rd. Your first set of climbs are on Spring Hill followed by a regroup at Helen Putnam Park where this water/restroom. From Hellen Putnam, on Chileno Valley Road, we will continue straight to Wilson Road for the first major climb of the day! (1 mile, 8.7%, Cat 4) We descend onto Marshall-Petaluma Rd ~5 miles to the Marshall Wall Climb (1.5mile, 6.4%, Cat 4 - lower section is 9%) Turn right onto Hwy 1 north to Tomales where this water/restroom. Take Tomales Rd back to the left on Pepper Rd and retrace the route back to the SMART Train station.
